VISIT LOUDOUN: BRANCH OUT

2020 was a doozy. As we were working through the new campaign for Visit Loudoun, DC's Wine Country®, COVID walked on the scene like a hurricane, and we had to pivot our strategy, marketing language, media scope and the entire concept. Throughout that timeframe, our team nimbly concepted 3 different campaigns, speaking to local audiences, local and drive markets and finally, when we felt the traveller sentiment was ready, nationally.
"Branch Out 2.0" was born out of the need to showcase the diverse experiences the county has to offer, being so close to DC, yet feeling worlds away. The concept blended two seemingly unrelated scenes, and crafted messages that bridged the gap between east and west, known and unfamiliar, new and old.
Together with the client, we created a set of ads that would speak to visitors looking for something out of the ordinary, yet close to home. It was an evolution of 1.0 which was highly engaged with during the peak of the pandemic.

IT ALL STARTED WITH AN IDEA...
and a silly sketch...

Proof that great ideas don't look that pretty during brainstorming.
And yes. This is the actual sketch that sparked the entire campaign concept!
